Install an ADA pool lift by first confirming the lift is the correct type for the pool: fixed or portable, with adequate reach, seat height, weight capacity, and clear deck space. Verify the anchor location or base can support the manufacturer’s required load and that the lift can place the user into the water at the proper depth and position. Follow the manufacturer’s instructions exactly, and have installation done by a qualified contractor or pool professional. For fixed lifts, this usually means setting the anchor or sleeve into concrete and securing the mast, seat, arm, and footrest. For portable lifts, assemble the base, counterweight, and seat, then test mobility and stability. After installation, perform a full operational test: rotation, lifting, lowering, seat alignment, battery/ hydraulic function, and emergency release if equipped. Make sure the area is clear, accessible, and compliant with ADA requirements.
Maintain the lift regularly to keep it safe and reliable. Inspect it before each use for cracks, rust, loose bolts, worn padding, damaged straps, or battery issues. Clean the lift with mild soap and water; avoid harsh chemicals that can corrode parts. Lubricate moving parts only as recommended by the manufacturer. Charge batteries as directed and replace them when performance drops. Check anchors, fasteners, and wheels periodically for tightness and wear. Test the lift under load on a routine schedule and keep a maintenance log. If the lift is outdoors, cover it or store it properly during severe weather and off-season use. Replace any damaged parts immediately and use only approved replacement components.
