The cord and plug must match that source.

And the source must be able to carry it.

What protection does it contain?

Overcurrent devices and earth fault protection.

One device per outgoing circuit.

Sensitive protection where people plug in.

A main device for the whole board.

All of it conventional inside the box.

How is it secured once positioned?

By mounting or by weight, deliberately.

Hooks and brackets for a wall or scaffold.

A stand keeps it off wet ground.

Cords should not take its weight.

And it must not be pulled over.

Does it need weather protection?

Assume the job will overrun.

Equipment gets left out.

Lids must close over live parts.

Outlets need covers when unused.

Drainage matters more than it sounds.

Who may reconfigure it?

A competent person, and that must be enforced.

Site crews plug in freely, correctly.

Opening the enclosure is different.

Locking off protects that line.

Marking makes the boundary visible.

Is this the same thing as a spider box?

By where it sits in the chain.

A panelboard subdivides and protects.

It feeds boxes further down.

A spider box is the end point.

One distributes, the other delivers.
