Frequently Asked Questions
How does a process duty differ from comfort cooling?
It holds something within a tolerance.
Comfort cooling keeps people acceptable.
Outside tolerance the product or tool is wrong.
The consequence of drift is not discomfort.
That changes every requirement.
Why does stability outrank efficiency?
Because the tolerance is what is being bought.
Leaving fluid temperature must be held closely.
A machine that overshoots and recovers fails the duty.
Paper efficiency does not compensate.
Control quality is the leading specification.
Why does the load not follow the weather?
The heat comes from the process, not the climate.
A moulding machine rejects the same heat all year.
So does a laser or a fermentation vessel.
The plant runs through winter as well as summer.
Annual running hours are far higher than a building's.
What does that make free cooling worth?
Considerably more than in a building.
Cold weather hours would otherwise still need compressors.
A year-round load can use every one of them.
Payback is correspondingly faster.
It should be evaluated at selection.
Why does the fluid matter?
Because it is often not plain water.
Glycol mixtures change capacity and pressure drop.
Deionised water raises material compatibility questions.
Process fluids have their own thermal properties.
Both capacity and pump duty are affected.
Why are these machines packaged with a pump and tank?
The process needs a flow at a pressure.
The chiller is expected to deliver it.
Reservoir volume damps sudden load changes.
Pump duty matches the served equipment.
A notional building circuit is the wrong basis.
When is a portable or rental machine used?
When cooling is temporary or urgent.
Planned shutdowns and maintenance windows.
Seasonal peaks and one-off events.
Failure of permanent plant.
It arrives on castors or a trailer and connects quickly.
