What does the headrail actually do?

What happens if the rail is cut short?

The bracing stops working.

A rail that does not reach the wall.

Has nothing to transfer load into.

The run reverts to cantilevers.

And it will sway like one.

A braced run is swaying - what is wrong?

Almost always the end connection.

The rail has lost its fixing to the wall.

Or was never properly fixed there.

Check both ends before anything else.

It is a cheap fault to put right.

Does it still need good floor fixings?

Yes - it is floor-anchored as well.

The rail braces, it does not carry.

Weight still goes down the pilasters.

Into anchors in the slab.

Both parts of the system matter.

What else does the rail carry?

Anti-climb and mesh infills, where required.

It is the fixing point for them.

It also aligns the panel tops.

Which is why braced runs look straighter.

That is a real installation benefit.

Does it suit every ceiling?

Yes, because it does not touch one.

The rail sits at cubicle height.

Well below any ceiling.

So height and construction are irrelevant.

As with the plain floor-anchored version.
