How does it prevent that?

By refusing flow the coil cannot use.

A minimum delta-T is configured.

The valve limits flow to maintain it.

It does so whatever the controller demands.

The fix happens at the coil, not the plant room.

That is where the problem originates.

Can it be used for billing?

Usually not, though it does meter.

It measures flow and both temperatures anyway.

That gives useful monitoring data.

Billing needs legal certification.

Energy valves are rarely certified for it.

Use a certified meter where charging matters.

How does it differ from a PICV?

A PICV is mechanical and holds flow.

It keeps flow independent of pressure at a set position.

An energy valve measures and controls to a result.

It changes its own target as conditions change.

One solves pressure variation, the other solves delta-T.

They are complementary, not alternatives.

Where should they be fitted?

Where the coils and the problem are.

Large coils with variable load benefit most.

Air handling units are the usual candidates.

Small terminal coils rarely justify the cost.

Fitting them everywhere wastes money.

Target the significant loads.

What does it need to be useful?

Power, communication and something reading it.

It is an instrument as well as a valve.

Its data must reach the management system.

Unread data delivers only the flow limiting.

Confirm the protocol is supported.

Plan the integration with the purchase.
