Where do you actually step in?
Across the corner itself, on the diagonal, rather than face-on to one wall. The two door panels meet at the angle and part along their own tracks.
That matters for the room rather than the shower: the entry faces into the open floor instead of toward a wall, so there is no need to leave clear space directly in front of one particular side.
It also means the towel and the step-out point are naturally in the middle of the room, which works well when the shower sits diagonally opposite the door.
How is it different from a quadrant?
The floor plan. A corner entry keeps the internal footprint square or rectangular, with straight glass on both faces; a quadrant replaces the front with a curve.
Squaring the corner keeps more usable internal area for the same tray size, at the cost of a projecting angle into the room.
So the choice is a room decision rather than a shower one: a curve where circulation passes close by, a square corner where it does not and interior space matters more.
Do both panels move?
Usually both slide, each on its own run, which is what allows the opening to sit on the diagonal without either leaf swinging outward.
Some ranges fix one side and slide the other, giving a narrower entry but fewer moving parts and one less track to keep clean.
Where two panels slide, the enclosure has effectively two tracks meeting at the corner, and that junction is the point worth inspecting for seal quality before buying.
What tray shape does it need?
A square or rectangular tray with an upstand on both outer faces — not a quadrant tray, because there is no curve for the glass to follow.
The waste normally sits centrally or toward one wall, and unlike an offset quadrant the position is generally symmetrical, so handing is rarely an issue.
As always the tray and enclosure should share a range where possible, since the upstand height and the seal profile are designed together.
Is the opening narrower than on a straight-fronted enclosure?
Usually, because each sliding panel can only travel as far as its own run allows, and the diagonal geometry limits that.
In exchange the opening is positioned where there is most space to use it, which for many rooms is worth more than raw width.
Where a genuinely wide entry is the requirement, a hinged door on a straight front or a walk-in arrangement will do better than any corner entry.
